We Would Love to Hear from You#

This site is a labor of love, built by Richard Howell’s descendants to preserve and share the story of a man who served his country as soldier, spy, statesman, and poet. We have been researching the Howell family for over ten years, and some of our best discoveries have come from people just like you.

If you have information, a family connection, a document, or even a question, please reach out. Every lead matters.

What We’re Looking For#

**Family Connections** Are you a Howell descendant? Do you have family records, Bibles, photographs, or correspondence related to the Howell line from Delaware, Cumberland County, or Trenton, New Jersey?
**Primary Sources** Letters, diaries, legal documents, military records, or any original materials connected to Richard Howell, the 2nd New Jersey Regiment, or the Howell family.
**Unsolved Questions** We are particularly interested in: - The burial location of [Dr. Lewis Howell](/people/dr-lewis-howell/) (1754–1778) - Any documents related to Lewis Howell's medical service at Valley Forge - Records from Cumberland County Quaker meetings mentioning the Howell or Burr families
**Corrections & Sources** If you spot an error on this site, or if you have a source that strengthens or challenges something we've published, we want to know. We follow the [Agent Truth & Uncertainty Protocol](/resources/) — accuracy matters more to us than completeness.

About This Project#

This website is maintained by Richard Howell’s 5th Great Grandsons. We are independent researchers with no institutional affiliation. All content is original research unless otherwise cited, and we are committed to sourcing every claim to primary or peer-reviewed secondary sources.

We respond to every message personally. If you’re reaching out about a genealogical connection, it helps to include any names, dates, and locations you have so we can cross-reference our records.

Thank you for helping us tell Richard Howell’s story.
